Ever wonder why things never really change? From a professor who taught Bill Clinton we read:

When the business interests, led by William C. Whitney, pushed through the first installment of civil service reform in 1883, they expected that they would be able to control both political parties equally. Indeed, some of them intended to contribute to both and to allow an alteration of the two parties in public office in order to conceal their own influence, inhibit any exhibition of independence by politicians, and allow the electorate to believe that they were exercising their own free choice.(1)


..the National parties" (Republican and Democratic) "and their presidential candidates, with the Eastern Establishment assiduously fostering the process behind the scenes, moved closer together and nearly met in the center with almost identical candidates and platforms, although the process was concealed, as much as possible, by the revival of obsolescent or meaningless war cries and slogans...

Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can 'throw the rascals out' at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy.

But either party in office becomes in time corrupt, tired, unenterprising, vigorless. Then it should be possible to replace it, every four years if necessary, by the other party, which will be none of these things but will still pursue, with new vigor, approximately the same basic policies.(2)

CONNECTIONS: THE BUSH LEGACY

From Wikipedia we learn:

William Averell Harriman was born November 15, 1891 in New York City, to railroad baron Edward Henry Harriman and Mary Williamson Averell, and was the brother of E. Roland Harriman.

W.A.Harriman was initiated into the Skull and Bones Society, along with his friend Prescott Bush. Prescott Bush was the father of former President George H.(Herbert) W.(Walker) Bush and the grandfather of our current President George W. Bush. He also served as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

W.A. Harriman employed brother E.R. Harriman through a company gifted to him by his father the railroad baron E.H. Harriman, W.A. Harriman & Co, where other notable employees were George Herbert Walker, and Prescott Bush, who were likewise employed alongside E.R. Harriman, at Union Banking Corporation (UBC), a company which was closed in 1943 by the U.S. Government for Trading with the Enemy.

The Trading with the Enemy Act is a United States law forbidding trade with enemies in times of war. The official description of the Act, as part of Public Law, is: "An Act To define, regulate, and punish trading with the enemy, and for other purposes."

The law was passed by Congress in 1917, in order to prevent American citizens from doing business with the German Empire, a nation with which the U.S. was at war.

One of the most famous applications of the law was the seizure of the Union Banking Corporation by the American government in October 1942, on the basis that it was a Nazi "front group". The Union Banking Corporation was operated by Prescott Bush. Prescott Bush served on the board of directors from 1934 to 1943.

It should also be noted that the alliance between Hitler and the Harriman-Bush milieu went beyond mere business interests. Another area where they worked together extensively was race science--i.e. eugenics. For example, in 1932, W.A. Harriman arranged the Third International Eugenics Conference in New York, where Hitler's leading race scientist, Dr. Ernst Rudin, was unanimously elected president of the International Federation of Eugenics Societies. After studying the eugenics laws of California and Virginia, Dr. Rudin wrote the Nazi "Law for the Prevention of Hereditary Diseases in Posterity," which led to thousands of forced sterilizations and millions of exterminations in Nazi Germany.

Prescott Bush was an acquaintance of Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood and herself an avowed eugenicist. Margaret Sanger is on record favoring infanticide, compulsory sterilization, and (arguably) genocide. In fact, Prescott served as Treasurer for Planned Parenthood's first national fund raising campaign in 1947.

OIL

Dresser Industries is an oil drilling equipment supply company. In 1928 W.A. Harriman and Company paid $4,000,000 for Dresser's corporate stock, and sold securities against the company. In 1929 Prescott Bush refinanced Dresser "so that we retained a substantial measure of control." In 1930, E. Roland Harriman and Bush became members of the board (Prescott Bush served until 1952). In 1948, Henry Neil Mallon, a Yale classmate hired George H.W. Bush to work at Dresser Industries. In September 1998, Dresser merged with Halliburton and is now known as Halliburton Company.

Richard Cheney, currently serves under George Bush as the 46th vice president of the United States and served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Halliburton, from 1995 until 2000. Cheney resigned as CEO of Halliburton on July 25, 2000, and put all of his corporate shares into a blind trust, except 433,333 stock options worth about $8 million transferred to a charitable trust.

Cheney's net worth, estimated to be between $30 million and $100 million, is largely derived from his post at Halliburton. In the rebuilding of Iraq, Halliburton was granted a $7 billion no-bid contract.

Cheney has two adult daughters, Elizabeth and Mary. Elizabeth is married to Philip J. Perry, a Lockheed Martin Corp. lobbyist who was nominated by President George W. Bush in March or April, 2005, to be General Counsel of the Department of Homeland Security.

The point of this article? It's all in the family; our current president is knee deep in it as was his father and his father before him.
